Ω Labs
A shared workspace for Montréal’s AI safety community.
Why
Montréal has an established AI research community, anchored by Mila and several university programs. It now has a budding AI safety community too. People are working on safety-relevant problems across institutions, but without much coordination between them. There’s no permanent shared infrastructure connecting that work.
Ω Labs is built on the idea that a physical space helps. Constellation and FAR.Labs in Berkeley, LISA in London, Meridian in Cambridge, Trajectory Labs in Toronto, and others have found that co-location builds trust, enables cross-disciplinary translation, and helps people move from interest to committed work.
What happens here
Coworking Members work on their own projects in shared space. Research, engineering, governance. The space is available daily for members.
Events Regular talks, discussions, workshops, and reading groups. Part of the AI Safety Montréal series. Open to the broader community, not just members.
Hackathons Weekend sprints on safety-relevant problems. The space fits up to 15 people for small intensive events.
Community lunches Weekly shared meals for members and guests. A regular low-key way for people across different projects and institutions to get to know each other.
The space
